Food Review Pho 533 Palm Springs, CA

Visited: Pho 533 in Palm Springs, CA
Yelp Link: Pho 533

Observation:
I have visited Pho 533 multiple times however this was my 2nd time dining in. The setting is mellow and quiet with a smooth ambiance; candles lit on each table and lights dim. Waitress is really sweet and has managed to remember all my orders and the way I like my Pho with trimmings.

Ordered:
Me: Pho with Chicken (Pho Ga)
Him: Pho with Shrimp (Pho Tom)
Together: Vietnamese Egg Rolls

Food Review:
I love Pho like no other, I strongly believe my choice in home relocations in the Coachella Valley was decided upon the 2 Vietnamese Restaurants in this desert and Pho 533 won me over with its charm. While the food is priced higher than your average Vietnamese place I also am not going to drive to Redlands for cheaper Pho. I hope to never have to drive to La Quinta again just for Vietnamese food either.

Writing this review has made me hungry and at 2am I must digress...

Food Review Zini Cafe Med Palm Springs, CA

Visited: Zini Cafe Med in Palm Springs, CA
Yelp Link: Zini Cafe Med

Observations: Arrived extremely late around 11:00 pm, I knew this place was open until 1:00 am so I really didnt think it was a problem. There wasn’t a hostess at the hostess table so we walked on in to the bar and asked to sit at a table and were told no. Reason being was that they wanted to clean the table area since they were about to close...um it is still 11:00 pm but who care's we were hungry and I was craving my favorite dish.

Sat at the bar which was uncomfortable since I am short and the stools were high but what can you do. Bartender was complaining to her coworker about who knows what because I am obliviously not hip to the office/restaurant politics.

Ordered:
Me: Vodka Penne Pasta w/ Chicken
Husband: Spicy Sausage Pizza

Food Review:

As always the Vodka Penne is to-die-for; the sauce is full of flavor and it never gets old while the chicken is naturally dry but paired with the pasta sauce it is magical

Spicy Sausage Pizza per my husband was surprisingly good and not soggy like he expected. He said the pizza was very crispy and the spice in the sausage was great.

Overall Zini Cafe Med is a late night love....

Plaza Mexico Overview and Observations

Visited: Plaza Mexico in Lynwood, CA
Yelp Link: Plaza Mexico
When: October 28, 2011

Observations: Husband and I came to Plaza Mexico while everyone was celebrating Dia De Los Muertos. There was more vendors then normal but everyone had the usual stuff (Leather Mexico Wallets, Mexican Soccer Jerseys, Mexican Flags, Virgen De Guadalupe trinkets/statues/rosary's, faux flowers for the hair ect. There were also a few Dia De Los Muertos shrines that I took photos of.

Purchased:
1 Leather Key Chain (soldered with my anniversary and our names)
1 Large Wood Heart (soldered with my anniversary and our names)
1 Large Pink Glitter flower for my hair
1 Leather "Mexico" stamped wallet

Plaza Mexico at one point was thriving with people and rich in Mexican culture however maintenance of the grounds has deteriorated slowly. Statues are missing placards so if you aren't knowledgeable in Mexican Culture you don't know if you are looking at Che or Zapata. A few staples that I found were up kept was the beautiful large water fountains that were small in width but long in length.

Plaza Mexico holds a few restaurants and a Verizon store along with a large "Swap Meet" style structure that holds random items like Brass Knuckles, custom Gold/ Plastic/ Silver necklaces really popular in pop culture.

Overall I enjoyed being there especially since my husband speaks Spanish so I didn’t feel like anyone was ripping me off. The buildings and landscaped grounds were enjoyable I just wish they paid a little bit more attention to the art they installed ect.

Food Review Lulu's Palm Springs, CA

Visited: Lulu's California Bistro in Palm Springs, CA

Visited "Lulu's" for the first time on opening day, sat at the bar and as normal the first day was hectic, crazy and busy! It was warm outside and almost as warm inside however it didn't stop us from eating and mingeling.

Second visit was during "season"; weather was nice outside and once again Lulu's was packed! I was dying to let my husband experiance the beauty that Lulu's chandeleirs give so we braved the 30 minute wait.

The whole intention of going to Lulu's was to site see and relax however I had to try to the food again.

Ordered:

1. Chicken Skewers- Chicken was seasoned well, the mango it was stabbed into was good  per my husband; however the Coconut sauce was not the best; ask for ranch it's great!
2. Chicken Lettuce Wraps- I can't say I was impressed. The meat was not very well seasoned, kind of tasted like Tofu and we had to ask for extra lettuce but overall it wasn't inedible.
3. Floating Island- Let me start by saying we noticed this ginormous monstrosity on a neighboring table and just had to have it. The Vanilla bean inside the cup was to-die-for! the slided almonds gave it a crunch that was needed since the dessert is very soupy but overall it was awesome! If you aren't a meringue and creme brulee fan then I would probably jump for a gelato.

Levels of Trashy

Why did I start this Blog? I just asked myself the same question.

I get off on being trashy and I'm not sure why. I like what most people don't....
I live in Palm Springs, I am young and married to a handsome cholo that I adore!

To curve my trashyness I will do my random food reviews but overall it will be flooded with Hello Kitty, wide nails, shiny object's and colorful purchases.
